Outlaws Hammer Terre Haute, 12-3

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Trailing 2-1 after five innings, the Nashville Outlaws broke open the game by taking advantage of three Terre Haute errors by scoring nine runs on five hits in the sixth inning en route to an impressive 12-3 win over the central division's first-place team the Terre Haute Rex Sunday.
With the win on Sunday, Nashville improves to 22-20 overall and 8-6 in the second half of the season. The Outlaws are now within 2.5 games of the first-place Rex who stand at 12-4 in the second half of the season.
Matt Borgschulte (Western Kentucky) and Sam Dove (Georgia Tech) led the Outlaws with three hits apiece while Johnny Amann (Judson) went 2-for-5 with 3 RBI and two runs scored from the lead-off spot.
Terre Haute (26-19) came into the game having won four straight but struggled defensively and on the mound against the Outlaws on Sunday. Nashville took advantage of 10 free passes and four defensive miscues by Rex to open the flood gates in the sixth inning.
Brentwood (Tenn.) native Andy Hillis allowed two runs on four hits in 4.2 innings Sunday. Hillis struggled with control at times, walking six Terre Haute batters while recording just one strikeout.
Matt Fitton (Sacred Heart) earned the win Sunday, throwing 2.1 innings of no-hit, scoreless relief to improve to 3-4 on the season.
The Outlaws will conclude its seven-game homestand tomorrow when they host the first-place Rex at Hawkins Field. First pitch Monday will be at 7:05 p.m.
